Agency Goals

Youth Advocates Strategic Plan
July 1, 2006-June 30, 2009

In May 2006, the Youth Advocates Board of Directors approved our strategic plan that will guide our work over a four year time period. Here are the goals we will be focusing on:

  • Youth Advocates will work to ensure that all of our services are
provided in a culturally competent fashion.
  • Youth will experience supportive relationships within families, neighborhoods, and communities.
  • Youth will experience improved academic performance.
  • Youth Advocates will increase contributed revenue to meet its current and future financial needs.

Each year staff, foster parents and the Board of Directors create an Annual Goals and Outcomes Plan that provides measurable outcomes specific to each goal outlined above. Indicators of success may change throughout the four year period. In order to monitor our progress, achievement rates for each objective are measured at the end of each year and compared to preceding years.

Here are some of the things we hope to accomplish for the 2006-2007 fiscal year:

  • Complete an agency cultural competency assessment
  • 60% of our youth increase placement stability
  • 65% of our youth increase behavioral stability and functioning
  • 40% of our youth increase potential for permanence
  • 75% of our youth make academic progress
  • 65% of our youth increase school stability
  • Increase our foster bed capacity to 48 beds
  • 24% of our total agency revenue will be generated from private funding donors

Our staff foster parents and Board of Directors are committed to the work they do. We provide a family setting to deeply traumatized youth so that they may heal and experience a developmentally appropriate childhood. We believe that we are accountable to the families we serve, and in doing so our work results in building a stronger, healthier community.
